Alessandra Vaccari 

Alessandra Vaccari is Associate Professor of Art History the Università Iuav di Venezia, with a lifelong experience in teaching fashion history and theory. She is member of the Iuav Department of Architecture and Arts, and Director of the MA Fashion, which has a pathway in Fashion Design and one in Fashion Ecologies. She has previously taught at Bologna University (2006-2014) and has been visiting professor in many international universities, including University of the Arts London, São Paulo University, Stockholm University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on three main areas: Italian and European modernist fashion; the relationships between time and fashion; fashion cultures and theories in their implications on environmental sustainability and social change. Alongside many articles, book chapters, and monographs on 20th- and 21st-century fashion and fashion theory, she has co-edited the book Time in Fashion: Industrial, Antilinear and Uchronic Temporalities (2020). Her most recent book, in Italian, is Indossare la trasformazione (Wearing Transformation) (2022). She is working on the proceedings of the international conference Earth, Water, Air, and Fire: the four Elements of Fashion, which has organised with Anneke Smelik in 2023. Since 2019, she is leading the Fashion Futuring research platform at Università Iuav di Venezia.
