Rita Almendra

Rita Assoreira Almendra is an Associate Professor with Aggregation in Design since 2016. She teaches at Lisbon University, Lisbon School of Architecture (FAUL).  She has a PhD in Design concluded in 2010 in FAUL;  Her master in Design Management was concluded in 2004 in Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Faculdade de Ciências Económicas e Empresariais and she has also an MBA with marketing specialization, finished in 2002 from the same school. Her graduation in Design from Technical University of Lisbon dates from 1998. She started as a lecturer at FAUL in 2000, become assistant professor in 2010 and associated professor in 2016.
She is the Head of the Design Department, the coordinator of the 3rd Cycle and of the PhD in Design at FAUL as well as of the nucleus of Design and a Researcher at CIAUD – Research center of FAUL.. She was the Vice-president of the Scientific Council at FAUL and of the Pedagogical Council of the same School.
She Published over 130 articles among book chapters, papers in journal and in conference proceedings, accounts for 45 PhD (finished and ongoing) and over 70 MSc.
She has been a member of more than 100 Master juries and of 47 PhD Defence Juries;
She organized several conferences; integrates multiple Scientific committees of journals and conferences and acted as a reviewer of various conferences and a few publications.
She is a member of  FCT’s doctoral studentship in the design area; She was also member of the jury of Lisbon university’s  doctoral studenship in design; She was a member of  123 jury from 7 different schools to select candidates to the position of assistant professors; 
She was granted with an FCT doctoral scholarship and has received 2 awards and/or honors.
